Oct 15 2017- Beginnings-What is the "Out On a Limb Project" ?

What the "Out On a Limb Project" is all about:

Below is the original  post in the Fund Raiser that explains what the project is all about. I'm not currently asking for funds as we reached our goal! and then some! Yaay!!!

Imagine being born without four fingers on your left hand. And now imagine fate's cruel joke of making you left handed. At the same time, gifting you with artistic sensibilities both in painting and playing music. That is what happened to me.

While most physical activities are well within my grasp (no pun intended) there are huge emotional and psychological obstacles that affect me deeply and have done so just as far back as I can remember.  My emotional pain and despair over my physical defect remained throughout my childhood, weaving its way through my adult life, remaining to this day. Even though I have mostly reached a place of acceptance, I feel very much like a one-eyed person without the benefit of an eye patch to beautify and protect my more vulnerable and sensitive nature. Naked and exposed...tender and raw…for all the world to see.

I am quiet skilled at hiding my hand. So much so that I don't even know I am doing it anymore.  I spent my childhood praying to God to let me wake up with fingers. Throughout my life I tried various prosthetics. They always made me feel more exposed – more obviously different.

If I have be different, I want to control that difference along with how it is perceived. I want something spectacularly creative, with an aesthetic that is congruent with who I am and how I choose to express myself in the world.  For so many years I was unable to realize what I saw in my mind's eye until I found Sophie, the founder and creative genius at The Alternative Limb Project in London, England. Please check out her website (http://www.thealternativelimbproject.com/)  to see some examples of Sophie’s work. She is simply amazing. It literally took years for me to find her and connect. There is no doubt: She is one of a kind!

To pursue my Alternative Digits, it will take at least 4 different trips to visit Sophie in London, England over the next 6 months. As you well may imagine, this is a project of some magnitude involving significant expense, multiple visits, and complexities of both a technical and artistic nature, along with an inordinately high level of creative and  specialized skill-sets that so far,  only Sophie possesses.

Financially, the “costs” are daunting. Beyond anything I could reasonably manage.
I need your help. I am hoping if we all pull together, that as I open myself to you with this tender place and ask for your help, that you in turn will open yourself to me and offer a donation that will help fuel the final run to provide the necessary financial fuel to bring this train into the station. The final destination! A dream of a lifetime realized.

I know we have got this! Just as I have witnessed literally thousands of times in the Community of Bright Line Eaters; together we can do what one alone cannot. The previously unattainable becomes gloriously obtainable. Please consider becoming a member of the group that lends a hand in the heart-centered crafting of this miracle in the making.

I'm “Going Out On a Limb,” opening myself up, laid bare, in asking for your assistance, so that I may reach what feels to me like the culmination of my heart's desire in fulfilling a life- long dream.

Thank you! Thank you for your consideration and generosity!

With heartfelt care, gratitude, and devotion,
Linden

P.S. If you'd like to read further, there will be continuing updates from the beginning of this transformative journey! I’ll be certain to add more as the miracle unfolds.

As many of you know the Fund Raiser was an amazing success!!! Thanks to you!!!!

and here is the Blog to keep you updated as to how the project is unfolding. My best suggestion is to follow it from the earliest post to most recent for continuity. Each Blog should have a date on it so you can do that...

again...
Thank you for supporting this endevour and for showing your love and care in such a concrete way. This would not have been at all possible with out you.

I am  and remain eternally grateful!
